FAQs:
Do I need any experience to join?
Not at all. This class is designed for complete beginners. Our instructors will guide you step-by-step through the entire process.
What will I make in the class?
You’ll build your own wooden stool from scratch — from cutting the wood to assembling and personalizing
Will I be using real power tools?
Yes. You’ll be using beginner-friendly woodworking tools such as drills, sanders, and a jigsaw. Don’t worry, we provide a full safety briefing, gear and guide you through how to use each tool properly.
Is it safe?
Yes, safety is our top priority. We provide protective gear (goggles, masks, earplugs) and instructors closely supervise all tool usage. The Bumi & Ashe teaching method is VERY hands on. You’ll also be guided step-by-step, so you won’t be left figuring things out on your own.
Is the class physically demanding?
Woodworking does involve some physical effort (lifting, sanding, drilling), but the class is paced for beginners. We also structure the session to make it manageable, and you’re free to take breaks anytime.
Will I finish my stool within the session?
Yes. The class is designed so you can complete your stool within the 3-hour session and bring it home the same day.
Can I customize my stool?
There are only 2 customization options: STAIN and WOOD ENGRAVING using burning.
Choose your own stain color and add custom details using wood burning.
Do I need to bring anything?
Nope. Everything is provided, including materials, tools, and safety gear. Just come in comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting a bit dusty.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes, Closed-toe shoes, Avoid loose sleeves or accessories. Woodworking can get a bit dusty, so dress accordingly.
Will it be noisy or messy?
Yes, woodworking involves cutting and sanding, so there will be some noise and sawdust. We provide protective gear and maintain the space to keep it as comfortable as possible.
Can I join alone?
Yes! Many of our participants come solo. It’s a great way to try something new and meet others.
What if I'm a man :(
This session is intentionally designed for women to create a comfortable, supportive space to explore building and working with tools.
We’ll be launching other sessions that are open to all genders soon ♡
Can I take my stool home immediately?
Yes, you can bring your finished piece home right after the class. If you used a colored stain, full curing takes 21 days. The piece can be handled after 24 hours, but avoid contact with liquids until it’s fully cured, as it only becomes water-resistant after 21 days. A care guide for your stool will be included!
