Ceramic Mirror Making Class

In this beginner friendly Ceramic Mirror Making Class we will be teaching you hand building techniques such as coiling (only using your hands and tools, without using a pottery wheel) to sculpt your mirror.  

What can you make? You can choose from the ff and here are the maximum sizes:

• Big wall mirror - 14x12 inches
• Small wall mirror - 10x10 inches
• Table mirror - 8x8 inches
• Hand mirror - 9x5 inches 
• Pocket / Charm mirror - 5x5 inches

Important note: After booking this workshop, our team will reach out to you via email or Instagram to ask for your design. Please send in your design at least 1 day before your class so that we can check its feasibility. Kindly note that the big wall mirror is a bit more challenging and requires more focus. Simple designs are recommended so you can finish the class on time.

3. How to prepare your clay
4. How to make the mirror frame (coiling method)
5. How to make and attach decorations
6. Painting with underglaze

  • 1 pc mirror per person (we will attach the mirror to your work after the class)
  • Metal table stand for table mirrors (to be attached by us as well after class)

FAQ:

Are there fixed schedules? Or can I book another date?

Since this is a new class offering, there are only limited schedules available. If you'd prefer a different schedule, you may message us on Instagram @bumi.and.ashe so we can check if we can open more slots for you :)

Can we bring our final outcomes home?

We will need to fire your pieces first and attach the mirror before you are able to use them, the firing process will involve multiple stages like drying, and firing it twice which can take around 8-10 weeks. We will inform you when your works are ready for pick up.

Can kids do this?

We highly recommend smaller mirror outputs (hand / pocket / mirror) for kids and the best age is around 8 years old and above. But if you feel that your child can follow instructions and focus for 3 hours, any age is welcome. 

Will the mirror be flushed in to the ceramic piece?

No, the mirror will just be directly attached to the back and will be extruding from behind but this won't be noticeable from the front especially for wall hanging mirrors :)

Can I bring food or drinks? 

Yes you can bring food or drinks. You can even order from the dozens of restaurants around the Cubao Expo compound and it will be delivered to you during your pottery session. Please give us a heads up so the teacher is informed :)

Can I bring pets?
Yes of course. Our founder (Ashe) is actually a gray tabby cat. We love pets! Please bring your pets :) We also assume that you will be responsible for them and will not disrupt any other ongoing classes in the other class rooms. 

If we miss the class, can we refund? 

We do not do refunds. Please note that we are a small business and we have allotted time, space and an instructor for your company and convenience. 

Can we give a downpayment to reserve?
We require full payment upon reservation as we need to say no to others who would like your slots. We accept Credit Cards, BPI, BDO, GCash and more.
